Care Guide for CPD:

Tank Setup:

  1. Tank Size: Provide a tank of at least 10 gallons for a small group of celestial pearl danios.
  2. Aquascape: Use dense vegetation, such as mosses, Java ferns, and floating plants, to mimic their natural habitat. Driftwood and rocks can also provide hiding spots and break line of sight.
  3. Substrate: Fine sand or smooth gravel substrate is ideal to prevent injury to their delicate barbels.

Water Parameters:

  1. Temperature: Maintain the water temperature between 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 26°C).
  2. pH: Keep the pH between 6.5 to 7.5.
  3. Water Hardness: Aim for moderate water hardness, with a dGH between 5 to 15.

Tank Mates:

  1. Peaceful Community Fish: Celestial pearl danios are peaceful and can be kept with other peaceful community fish such as small tetras, rasboras, and dwarf gouramis.
  2. Avoid Aggressive Fish: Avoid keeping them with aggressive or predatory species that may stress or harm them.

Feeding:

  1. Diet: Offer a varied diet including high-quality flake or pellet food supplemented with live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. Celestial pearl danios also enjoy nibbling on algae and small invertebrates.
  2. Feeding Frequency: Feed small amounts multiple times a day to ensure they receive enough nutrition.

Maintenance:

  1. Water Changes: Perform regular water changes of 25-30% weekly to maintain water quality and keep nitrate levels low.
  2. Tank Cleaning: Use a gravel vacuum during water changes to remove debris and waste from the substrate.
  3. Monitoring: Monitor water parameters regularly using a test kit to ensure they remain within the acceptable range.

Breeding:

  1. Breeding Setup: Provide a separate breeding tank with fine-leaved plants and spawning mops.
  2. Spawning Behavior: Celestial pearl danios typically scatter their eggs among plants. The eggs hatch in a few days, and the fry can be fed with infusoria or commercial fry food.
  3. Fry Care: Provide plenty of cover for the fry to hide, and feed them small live foods until they are large enough to accept crushed flake food.

By following these care guidelines, you can create a suitable environment for your celestial pearl danios and enjoy their beauty and peaceful nature in your aquarium.
